Trini U-19s in sight of victory
KINGSTOWN, St Vincent: The Lee-ward Islands, trailing Trinidad and Tobago by 85 runs on first innings, reached 71 for five in their second innings at the close on the second day of their second round match in the TCL West Indies Under-19 Challenge at the Arnos Vale Ground yesterday. Resuming on 62 for two wickets yesterday, the young Trinidadians paced by William Perkins who hit a solid 54 and skipper Jason Mohammed who got 33, raced to 221. Rishi Bachan added 28 and Javed Moham-med 26 to the Trinidad and Tobago total. Justin Atha-naze toiled manfully for his three wickets which cost 29 runs while Dillon Skellekie took three for 50. Batting a second time, the Leward Islanders soon ran into the wiles of left arm back of the hand spinner Dane Teeluck-singh who took three wickets for eight runs, and were staring defeat on 71 for five wickets, still trailing by 14 runs with half their side out. Meanwhile, at the Stubbs Ground Guyana resuming from 109 for two, scored 360 for eight declared in reply to Barbados 161. And the Bajans trailing by 199 runs on first innings, reached 27 without loss in their second innings. And at the Sion Hill Ground, Windward Islands resuming on 46 for five in their reply to Jamaica first innings total of 168, were dismissed for 111. Jamaica decided to bat again and were 187 for six wickets, a commanding lead of 244 runs.
