Golfers lead Higgs, Francis Steele-Perkins
TRINIDAD and Tobago’s golfers yesterday took a commanding lead in the Francis Steele Perkins Trophy at the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship (Hoerman Cup) on the second day at the Royal St Kitts Golf Course, Frigate Bay. The team which comprise Barry Ferdinand and Ray Roberts shot an astonishing 68 for an overall 140, but Bahamas were challenging strongly with an overall 142, after also carding a 68 yesterday. The Trinidadians also took the lead in the Higgs and Higgs Trophy where Ashraf Ali and Pat Suraj campaign, shooting 134 shots, following an impressive 64 yesterday, but Puerto Rico are close behind on 136. In the George Teale Memorial Cup, the Trinidad and Tobago girls, Diana Torry, Tracey Clarke and Martine De Gannes gave an impressive display with a 305 but are second behind Puerto Ricans with a 298. In the Hoerman Cup, Trinidad and Tobago led by Simon Merry with a 69, are second tied with OECS on 595, to Dominican Republic 593. In the Ramon Baez Cup Trinidad and Tobago are tied for fifth .
