Defence Force shoot clear

DEFENCE FORCE shut out last season’s champs Media Net Orie 1-0, then blanked Maple 2-0 to take a clear five-point lead in the Media 21-sponsored Northern Football Association Premier Division.

Prolific Gary John got the only goal of the match for the Army-Coast Guard men against Orie on Thursday last.

And on Saturday he found the nets again along with Keron Balfour to victimise Maple.

As a result of their unbeaten run, Defence Force now have 23 points to St Francois Nationals 18, who are also unbeaten to date. Maple also have 18 points.

The Mapleites were also held 0-0 by Fire Service on Thursday, while St Francois Nationals shut out Queen’s Park 2-0 on goals by Akil Weekes and Andre Joseph.

But the Parkites drew 1-1 with Superstar Rangers on Sunday with Anthony Hewitt scoring, while Keith Williams got the equaliser for Rangers. Paragon got three points the easy way when T&TEC defaulted their match.
