Jamaicans star for Joe Public

JOE PUBLIC, dubbed "The Eastern Lions", remained atop the table as the 15th round of the Sportworld Super League took place yesterday.

The Lions earned a comfortable 4-0 win over M&M Harvard at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Tunapuna ,with the Jamaican trio at it again — Roen Nelson (18th minute), Wolry Wolfe (37th) and Carlington Smith (88th and 89th).

But Crab Connection remained two points adrift of the leaders after a 2-0 triumph over Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix at the WASA Ground, St Joseph, courtesy goals from Marvin Oliver (60th) and Brian Wallace (86th).

WASA Clean & White stayed in third spot with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Stokely Vale at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet.

Veteran David George put WASA ahead in the 12th before ex-national Under-17 striker Kerron Phillips equalised in the 60th. But there was no stopping WASA, as George got the winner nine minutes later from the penalty spot.

Couva Players United earned a similar 2-1 triumph versus the cellar-placed Media 21 FC at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva. Media 21 went ahead in the 27th courtesy Marvin Small, but Jonathan Marcelle tied the scores in the 53rd before Lyndon Bruno netted the winner in the 78th.

And Police regained the winning feeling once again as they blanked Maraval Youth Academy 4-0 at the Trinity College Ground, Moka, Maraval, with Neri Joseph (39th), Randy Harris (53rd), Jason Boodram (61st) and Edmund Homer (78th) as the goal-getters.

Meanwhile, the Superstar Rangers-PLIPDECO Caroni contest was cancelled due to a mix-up, which caused the officials to turn up late.
