‘Lions’, ‘Crabs’ fight for top spot
THE RACE for the top spot in the Sportworld Super League will continue today with a full slate of matches in Round 16. Leaders Joe Public, the "Eastern Lions", have a two-point lead over Crab Connection, and will be looking to keep their place atop the table with full points against PLIPDECO Caroni at Gilbert Park, Couva. The "Crabs" are almost guaranteed maximum points versus Media 21 FC at the Mt Hope Junior Secondary School Ground. And the Connection outfit will be looking to continue their fine form this season, with the return of strikers Marvin Oliver and Marlon Warner to the fold. The duo were originally banned for the rest of the season by the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) for disciplinary reasons, but the rulings were overturned by the Federation’s Appeal Committee. Third-placed WASA Clean & White have a tough task on their hands when they host Superstar Rangers at the WASA Ground, St Joseph while Maraval Youth Academy travel to the sister isle to face Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix at Canaan, Bon Accord and, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo, the struggling pair of M&M Harvard and Stokely Vale will oppose each other. All matches begin at 4 pm, excepting the battle between Couva Players United and Police, at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, which gets going at 6 pm.
