Windies players now Digicel stars
BRIDGETOWN: Several West Indies cricketers selected for the pre-tour training camp at the Three Ws Oval, University of West Indies Cave Hill Campus, have been engaging in a photo shoot for Digicel's television advertising campaign. The ground at the Three Ws Oval was transformed into a hive of activity this weekend as the players, including Dwayne Bravo, Corey Collymore, Omari Banks, Daren Powell and Tino Best, became stars "on set." Ramnaresh Sarwan and Shivnarine Chanderpaul arrived on Friday to shoot their scenes before returning to Guyana to play in Sunday's El Dorado Inter-county final between Demerara and Berbice at Skeldon.
"I've done many shoots throughout my career but this was really well orangised by Digicel and a relaxing and enjoyable experience," Chanderpaul said. "I hope the campaign will help rally support around the team as we compete away against Australia and New Zealand." Digicel's group marketing director, Ben Atherton said the company was excited about the advertising campaign and was also looking forward to a successful tour of Australia.
"As we look forward to, and welcome a full strength team in place for the upcoming tour to Australia, which promises to be an exciting tournament, our goal is to match the excitement with an entertaining campaign which captures the spirit and passion of West Indies cricket," Atherton said. According to a Digicel release, the communications giants will be making the broadcast of the Australia Windies away series available on Caribbean television stations across the region. (CMC)
