Finalists warm up for FCB Cup
CL FINANCIAL San Juan Jabloteh and W Connection will both be looking to fine-tune their preparation for Friday’s final of the First Citizens Bank (FCB) Cup in the 17th round of the T&T Pro League today. Jabloteh and Defence Force, the only teams with a realistic chance of catching up to surging leaders Connection, will face off at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. Jabloteh are second on the standings with 26 points, one ahead of the Army-Coast Guard combination but 13 behind Connection. All eyes will be on Jabloteh coach Terry Fenwick and the tactics he will employ today — whether he will give extended runs to his regulars or field his new-look bench. His squad comprises goalkeeper Brian James, strikers Nicholas Addlery and Nigel Codrington, midfielder Keith Kelly and national Under-20 defenders Karlon Murray and Marcelle Francois. Defence Force will be looking to redeem themselves from their substandard display against Connection in the FCB Cup semi-finals, and coach Kerry Jamerson will be expecting a better performance from his strike pair of Devon Jorsling and Kevon Carter, as well as the defensive backline of captain Kelshall Alexander, Addison Belfon, Michael Edwards and discarded national fullback Anton Pierre. Connection will also test their readiness for Friday’s battle when they host FCB Cup beaten semi-finalists United Petrotrin at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva. Recent signings Travis Mulraine, the former national captain, Nigerian forward Iyaika Stanley and Guyanese striker Randolph Jerome as well as youngsters Andrei Pacheco, Shane Calderon and Clyde Leon will be looking to force their way into the starting line-up of coach Stuart Charles-Fevrier. Caledonia AIA/Fire and Tobago United should feature in the day’s proceedings, at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima. All matches begin at 5 pm.
