Noel fights for Fedecaribe belt
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT boxer David Noel, nephew of former World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight title-holder Claude Noel, is scheduled to oppose Panama’s Tito Mendoza on October 15 for the Fedecaribe title. And Claude Noel will be the corner man for his nephew during the bout, which takes place in Panama. With a record of 27 wins, including 17 knockouts, eight defeats and one draw, Noel won the Fedelatin crown in Venezuela in 1997 with a second-round beating of Guillermo Jones of Panama in the WBA Knock Out Drug Games Festival. But Jones gained revenge in a rematch, which was also staged in Panama. And Noel is making a comeback to the sport, after competiting in the super middleweight ranks, where he got the better of Guyanese Troy Lewis in his last encounter. Mendoza, who has a record of 31 victories (24 knockouts) and seven defeats, recently lost to Luis Pineda for the Fedelatin cruiserweight belt.
