Southclaine host 50th cycle meet
SOUTHCLAINE Cycling Club will be celebrating their 50th anniversary with a two-day cycling meet at Skinner Park, San Fernando. Action takes place today and tomorrow from 7 pm each day. There will be a maximum of 30 races on each day, including match sprint, keirin, motor cycle sprin, devil takes the hind-most and BMX events for children. Among the riders on show will be Elisha Greene, Haseem McClean, Dariel Perreira and the Luces brothers Kent and Noel. And a number of cycling personalities — riders and officials — will be honoured during the weekend, including former San Fernando Mayor Gerard Ferreira, Gerard Mitchell, Leslie Rawlins, David Baird, Cyril Fook, Glen Cheeseman, Max Cheeseman, Anthony ‘Bike Doctor" Commissiong, Cyril Pollonais, Dr Clyde Pollonais, Dexter Trotman, Keith Rabatally, Carl Beckles, Codman Henry, Bill Hughes and Vally Bramble. Entry fee is $10 with free entrance for children under the age of 12.
