10 students beat boy
VIOLENCE at the Bon Air High School last Friday afternoon has resulted in a 14-year-old student from the same school being hospitalised. Marcus Guerra, a Form 3 student is resting in an unsatisfactory condition at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital after he was allegedly beaten by a group of boys from his school. His mother, Margaret said she was shocked when she got home from work to see her son in bed crying as a result of pain. He bore marks of violence, his eyes were swollen and he was bleeding from the nose and spitting blood. When his condition deteriorated yesterday, she took him to the hospital where he is still a patient. She said she was told by Marcus that he got involved when he tried to prevent some boys from attacking one of their colleagues. He told her, he found himself being targetted for his kind act and when he was leaving school at the end of the afternoon session he was attacked and beaten. According to Margaret, her son said a teacher who saw it all, turned a blind eye to what was happening. She has reported the matter to the police who promised to investigate, said Margaret. She said because it was a Friday afternoon, she could not contact the principal, but plans to do so tomorrow and to inform the Ministry of Education about the incident. She is now awaiting instructions from her attorney.
