Players, Nationals in Central FA final


COUVA Players United stormed into the final of the Ramsingh Sports World-sponsored FA Cup in the Central Football Association with a 4-2 penalty kicks triumph over Leeds FC.


The teams battled to a 0-0 draw at the end of regulation time in Saturday’s match at Edinburgh 500 Ground.


The Couva men will face J Rattansingh Tyres Phase IV Nationals in the final at Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, on October 16.


Nationals edged their way into the final 2-1 over Las Lomas United also at Edinburgh 500 Ground.


Chameel John opened the scoring for the winners in the 26th minute and they held firm until the interval.


Then Atiba Alves doubled the Nationals advantage before Abel Jones pulled one back for Las Lomas in the 78th, but the winners held on to the end.


Meanwhile, Las Lomas edged Couva Players United 2-1 at the Couva Recreation ground in a Super Industrial Services Limited-sponsored Premier League match.


Couva stunned the winners when Jeremy Noel scored in the second minute of the match.


But Wendell Jones soon had Las Lomas level with a sixth minute penalty and Abel Jones scored what turned out to be the winner in the 21st. And Couva also suffered a 3-0 reverse to Phase IV Nationals with goals by Ernest sobers after five minutes, Arnold Fugerson 56th and Gregory McConney in the 77th.
