Craigs top Tobago Schools Scrabble
SOLOMON and Simon Craig of Signal Hill Secondary were the top two finishers in the Senior Division of the 12th annual Guardian General National Secondary Schools Scrabble Tournament Tobago Zone. Forty-one students featured in Saturday’s Tobago preliminaries, with Elton Richardson placing third in the seniors, followed by Bishop High School teammate Cainan Balfour and Tasha Frank of Mason Hall Government Secondary. In the Junior Division, Stern Gadd and Sachith Pathirana of Bishop High School took the first two spots, ahead of the Signal Hill’s trio of Kosi King, Kereem Henry and Daylene George. Action switches to the Port-of-Spain and Environs prelims, which will be staged at the Guardian Holdings Atrium, Westmoorings on Saturday from 9 am, with the finals set for November 5. With the approval of the Ministry of Education, the tournament is being held under the auspices of the Trinidad and Tobago Scrabble Association and Guardian General, who continue to support the development of the nation’s youth through literacy, by creating an environment where they can both compete and socialise with their peers.
