‘Lions’ roar to League Cup
THE "Eastern Lions" Joe Public withstood a late challenge from East/West Coaching School to claim the Eastern Football Association (EFA) Emerald Apartments and Plaza-sponsored League Cup. At the Marvin Lee Stadium in Tunapuna on Saturday last, Joe Public held a 2-0 lead with items from Joel Lewis (53rd minute) and Jessie Charles (73rd) before Manu John caused some nervous tension with a 90th minute strike for East/West. Two rescheduled league fixtures took place recently, with Trincity Nationals, on the back of goals from Carlon Mitchell and Dave Alexander, edging Combine FC 2-1. James Thomas was the lone goalscorer for Combine. T&T Coast Guard and Club TSTT played to a 2-2 draw with Dwayne Leon and Lovell Sterling netting for the "militia men" while Patrick Toussaint and Kieve Van Loo replied for TSTT.
