Pretenders win night windball cricket

They whipped Endeavour by eight runs in the final to lift the title.

The Pretenders batting first totalled 60 for six wickets in their 15 overs, then restricted their opponents to 52 for nine with Giles Antoine taking three wickets for nine runs and Hansraj Persad, three for 11.

When the Pretenders batted, Persad topscored with 31 to cap a fine allround performance.

Earlier, Pretenders overwhelmed Fully Loaded by 19 runs in a semi-final match, while Endeavour scored a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Shandy Boyz.

In the final, for his grand allround showing, Persad was named "Man-of-the-Match", while team-mate Robert Mahabir was voted Best Fieldsman.

But Dilip Basdeo of Strokers who scored 163 runs and took six wickets was named "Cricketer of the Year."

And Lima Samuel of Combined XI the Women Division queens, was named "Woman Cricketer of the Year."
