Yorke: We need full points

The 33-year-old Sydney FC striker arrived in Panama on Wednesday night after undertaking the tiring trip from Australia where he starred in his club’s 2-1 victory over the weekend.

"Without a doubt we must get a win here on Saturday. And then we will leave the rest up to what happens when we play against Mexico at home," Yorke told the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation website.

"At the same time, Mexico have shown how strong a footballing country they are having just won the Under-17 World Cup and by all means there senior team will be wanting to show what sort of a quality team they are as well."

Trinidad and Tobago, in fifth place in the standings, are in a must-win situation as they need to beat the hosts and hope that Guatemala, fourth on eight points, lose to Mexico in another fixture tomorrow.

The Warriors won their first leg clash against Panama 2-0 in Port-of-Spain and will be hoping for a similar result in their attempt to reach the World Cup in Germany next year.

"Panama will be coming all out to prove something and we know this will be a difficult game for us because we don’t expect that they will just lie down and let us get the three points we so badly want," the former Manchester United hit man, said. "If it’s anything I think they will see three points being nice to get as well even though they are not in the race anymore."

Mexico and the United States have already qualified from the CONCACAF group with Costa Rica, in third place on 13 points, likely to secure the third automatic qualification spot. The fourth place finisher will qualify for a play off in the Asian Confederation zone in November. (CMC)
