South Zone leaders face off

SOUTH ZONE leaders Naparima and Princes Town will face off in a top-of-the-table battle in the British Gas Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) today.

But the match-up at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella will have little bearing to the top spot, with Naps holding a four-point lead over second-placed Princes Town. Former leaders Vessigny, who have slipped to third place with 12 points, can maintain their title hopes with a win at home to Mayaro while table-proppers Moruga hosts St Benedict’s.

San Juan, who have set the league by storm with eight straight victories, will be guaranteed another big win against neighbours St George’s at Barataria.

The "Blue Thunder" El Dorado are seven points behind East leaders San Juan and host Hillview; and at the Larry Gomes Stadium, the "Green Machine" St Augustine face Malabar.

In the North, Fatima will meet St Mary’s at the CIC Ground in St Clair while Mucurapo, who are joint top with Fatima on 18 points, facing Malick at the Fatima Ground. And Tranquility will oppose QRC at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo.

Presentation College of Chaguanas will not have an easy task as they clash with third-placed Marabella in the second of back-to-back matches at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva. Both Pres and Carapichaima are joint leaders with 13 points, while Marabella are three points back.

Mid-table teams Union Claxton Bay and Chaguanas will meet in the first match in Couva while last-placed Tabaquite host Carapichaima. All matches get going at 3.45 pm, with the exception of the double-header at Couva, which kicks off at 3 pm.
