PRESIDENT George Maxwell Richards will be among a contingent of over 150 persons who will be on a chartered flight to Panama for today’s crucial CONCACAF World Cup Final Round Qualifier against Panama. According to a press release, the flight was arranged by the team’s sponsors Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) and will include the Laventille Rhythm Section, the Angostura Woodbrook Playboyz and officials of both the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) and TSTT. The plane, with over 152 fans will leave Trinidad at 2.30 pm in time for the match, which will kick off at 9 pm TT time. According to Ian Joseph, vice-president of TSTT’s mobile services, "it is important to keep the momentum going for the team. They know they are carrying the hopes of the entire nation on their shoulders and it will be a huge boost for them to see this contingent of their countrymen backing them all the way," he added. The media release noted that, "in 2004 (TSTT) agreed to sponsor the Warriors costing $3 million for a two-year period. "Additionally, TSTT has attempted to raise $9 million to assist in the team’s extensive programme with the launch of the Go Team text-messaging campaign earlier this year," the release ended.
