DARREN TOBY, of the College of Charleston in the United States, has a team-leading three goals as they seek to make an appearance in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) tournament later this year.

The Tobago-born striker, who was a member of the national Under-23 team a few years ago, is also looking to guide his team to another regular season crown. Another former Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) standout, Ateba McKnight of George Mason University, has netted twice during the season so far. The ex-Naparima College forward is now playing as a midfielder for George Mason, where he was included in the All-Conference and All-Region teams. His team is also in contention for the 2005 NCAA competition.

Another player enjoying a rich vein of form is Carron Williams of the Florida International University, who has scored seven times this season.

The team’s "Most Valuable Player" in 2004, Williams has been named on the All-Atlantic first team twice in a row and will turn his attention now on the NCAA battle.

Striker Sherron Manswell has been a thorn to opposing defences for his team Boston College in the Atlantic Coast Conference, notching eight goals to lead the standings in the zone.

Midfielder Dean Logan notched his first goal of the season for the University of Mobile over William Carey College recently while another Princes Town Secondary standout, Anthony Noreiga, who was also included in the national Under-23 team last year, has been doing yeoman service in the defence for George Mason. Two former national wing-backs, Ancil Farrier and Stephen Cruickshank, have also been part of the successful campaign of the Southern Connecticut State University.

The squad has won eight out of their 12 matches so far, with Farrier, a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Under-20 squad, appearing in all the fixtures while Cruickshank, who featured in the 2004 Digicel Cup campaign with the seniors, has netted once for the season.
