Yorke in doubt for Sydney
SYDNEY: Due to his recent hectic international schedule, Trinidad and Tobago football star Dwight Yorke might not be considered for Sydney FC’s clash with Melbourne Victory tomorrow. Yorke played two World Cup qualifiers in the space of five days against Panama and Mexico respectively and his Sydney FC coach Pierre Littbarski says he will need to assess the 33-year old striker before allowing him to suit up. "Dwight has had a very busy week with two World Cup matches in four days and I know that is difficult, especially so late in the qualifying," Littbarski told the club’s website. "He also has a long flight and I want to speak to him and see him before he starts the match." He added, "We want him to start but I will see him first and then decide for sure. We also have two very good strikers in (Sasho) Petrovski and (David) Zdrilic so we are lucky." If Littbarski rules that Yorke is fit to play, then either Zdrilic or Petrovski will be relegated to the bench. Yorke has been in superb form for Sydney in the fledgling Hyundai A-League, cracking four goals in five matches including one just before leaving for Panama a week ago. The former Manchester United striker is scheduled to arrive in Australia today after a 30-hour flight from the Caribbean.
