Daybreak shines into Full Gospel ‘semis’

DAYBREAK ASSEMBLY steamrolled into the semi-final phase of the 2005 Full Gospel Churches Football League knockout competition last weekend.

Holding a 4-1 lead from the first leg against Bethel FC, Daybreak crushed their opponents 7-3 to walk away with a massive 11-4 aggregate win.

Keone Alexander led the way for Daybreak with a hat-trick, while Steven Edwards netted two with one apiece from Keron Foster and Anton Dates. Terry Bernard scored twice for Bethel while Kendell Cambridge added the other.

Reformation Life Centre also had an easy passage into the "semis" as they trounced People United Fellowship 4-1 in the second leg, for a 6-1 aggregate triumph.

Jeremiah Johnson gave People the lead in the eighth minute of Saturday’s second leg, before Reformation killed all hopes of a comeback by their opponents with a beaver-trick from captain Oral Burgess, in the 23rd, 58th, 66th and 82nd minutes.

Genesis and ARTIST battled to a goalless draw in the second leg, but Genesis moved into the final four by virtue of their 1-0 win in the first leg.

Grande Praise, who have a 2-0 first leg advantage over GEMS, will have to wait a while to seal a semi-final spot as the second leg was rescheduled.
