Sancho, Cox back in Warriors team


BRENT SANCHO and Ian Cox, both based in English First Division club Gillingham, are back in the Trinidad and Tobago team for the home-and-away FIFA World Cup play-offs against Bahrain.


The matches will take place on November 12, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo, and on November 16 at Manama, Bahrain.


The central defenders missed the last pair of CONCACAF World Cup Final Round qualifiers against Panama and Mexico due to injuries, but they have now replaced Anton Pierre and David Atiba Charles in the 21-member squad.


Pierre and Charles, as well as American-based striker Cornell Glen, fellow striker Collin Samuel, who plays in Scotland, and Swedish-based midfielder Brent Rahim, are the five stand-by players.


The 21 players selected are goalkeepers Kelvin Jack, Shaka Hislop and Clayton Ince; defenders Dennis Lawrence, Marvin Andrews, Cyd Gray, Avery John, Sancho and Cox; midfielders Russell Latapy, Silvio Spann, Christopher Birchall, Carlos Edwards, Densil Theobald, Anthony Wolfe, Aurtis Whitley and captain Dwight Yorke; and strikers Jason Scotland, Scott Sealy, Stern John and Kenwyne Jones.


Meanwhile, a contingent of 49 persons, comprising both players and officials, were named by Bahrain for the matches.


Chosen among a squad of 33 players were Sayed Jaffar, Sayed Adnan, Abdulla Marzooq, Mohamed Hubil, Mohamed Ghanem, Salman Ali, Talal Mohamed, Husain Maki, Husain Ahmed, Rashed Salif, Mohamed Salmeen, Sayed Ebrahim, Hussain Hasan, Duaij Abdulla, Ali Husain, Hamad Humood, Mohamed Husain Mohamed, Rashed Salem, Saleh Farhan, Ali Karim, Abdul Abdulla, Hasan Maki, Ahmed Alhujairi, Abdulla Aldakeel, Mahmood Abdulla, Ebrahim Meshkhas, Mahmood Hasan, Rashed Al Shorooqi, Aala Huball, Ahmed Rashed, Ghazi Al Kawari, Faouzi Aaish and Ismaeel Hasan.


Sixteen officials, including members of the Bahrain Football Association, are also part of the delegation. The team officials are Luka Peruzovic (coach), Zeljko Mijac and Riyadh Althawadi (assistant coaches), Rafael Salvador (goalkeeper coach), A Razak Abbas (manager), Fahad Jalal and Mohamed Al-Saadon (assistant managers), Nabeel Al Shehab (psychologist), Khalil Rabeea (physiotherapist), Wilson Disouza (masseur) and Khalil Al Doseri (cook). And the Bahrain FA members who will be here are Shalkh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa (president), Shaikh Ali Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa (vice-president), Ahmed Mohamed (general secretary), Ahmed Al Noaimi (assistant general secretary) and Yusuf Ali (head of national teams committee).
