Defence Force capture Media-21 title


DEFENCE FORCE are the new champions of the Media 21-sponsored Premier League in the Northern Football Association. They clinched the title with still three more matches to play when they edged last season’s champs Medianet Orie 3-2 on Sunday.


Prolific goal-getter Gary John scored twice and Curtis Thomas got the other goal for the Army-Coast Guard combination, while Quincy Charles scored both goals for Orie. This now leaves a battle for the runners-up spot between St Francois Nationals with 39 points, Orie with 35 and Maple 32.


Maple crushed Fire Service 4-0 also on Sunday with Al Davidson and Daryl Paul both notching doubles.


St Francois Nationals drubbed Cosmos Eagles 5-0 on Thursday last with Adrian Perez and Keron Edwards scoring doubles and Jason Charles the other goal. Also on Thursday, Defence Force shut out Fire Service 2-0 with Godfrey Harris and Curtis Thomas getting the goals.
