Plan for ticket sale changed

TICKETS for Saturday’s World Cup football play-off between Trinidad and Tobago and Bahrain will go on sale on Friday.

And they will be available at three outlets — the Hasely Crawford Stadium at Mucurapo; Skinner Park in San Fernando; and the Arima Velodrome.

Football fans will be able to purchase the tickets at $200 (Covered Stands) and $100 (Uncovered) from 8 am to 5 pm.

Any unsold tickets after Friday will be made available to the public at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo on the day of the match on Saturday.

Originally it was announced that the tickets would be sold at KFC Restaurants and Republic Bank branches.

But yesterday CONCACAF president and Special Advisor to the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) Jack Warner announced the new arrangement.

And although no specific reason was given for the change of plan, it is understood that Warner has been making every effort to ensure transparency and accountability in the sale of the tickets for the first leg of the two-match play-off.

Trinidad and Tobago and bahrain meet again on November 16 in Manama. Winners of the play-off get a place in the World Cup Finals in Germany next year.

A release from the Local Organising Committee yesterday stated the move was made to allow all football fans and supporters the opportunity to purchase tickets for the match.

It was reported that the LOC were concerned about reports that tickets were being ordered and could be withheld from the general public if a system was not in place to level the playing field for the man in the street.

Also announced yesterday was a change in the amount of tickets that a person can purchase at one time from six tickets to four. Also all complimentary tickets and passes have been suspended for Saturday’s match..

Despite the change in the plan to sell the tickets at KFC, the fast food restaurant continues to be one of the major sponsors of the Warriors team in the current World Cup football campaign

The match will be seen by millions of viewers over the world.
