Salute The Colours shows stripes at gallops

DISAPPOINTING three-year-old Salute The Colours and newcomer D’Contractor had the best gallops at Santa Rosa Park, Arima on a chilly Thursday morning. Both were sent over 1000 metres and returned in the good time of one minute 03.1 seconds on a fast track. From his three starts to date, the good-looking Silver Hawk/Sporting Green American-bred gelding has been on the board just once, a fourth place to Enchanted Lake. Speed-merchant Marci’s Dreamer had a pleasing run over 1000 metres in one minute 09.4 seconds, while Movietowne Magic went over the same trip a trifle faster — one minute 09.0 seconds.

Devilsfirstlouis who has been showing good speed at gallops but is yet to reproduce it in races, had a handy gallop over 600 metres timed in 37.0 seconds. The two-year-old filly Danse De Coco who is entered for the St Ann’s Stakes  continued to please at gallops with a handy spin over 400 metres in 27.3 seconds, but Dudley’s Girl was a trifle speedier completing the trip in 27.2 seconds. Juvenile king All For Java was seen out pacing over 600 metres, chomping at the bit all along for a 44.4 seconds clocking. But it is to be noted this son of Java In Flight/Set All has improved physically and this must be scary following the manner in which he won his three races.
