URP man coaches Under-13 team

TRINIDAD and Tobago will be represented by a 14-member Under-13 cricket team in an annual  goodwill tournament in Barbados from December 7-18. Players shortlisted for the competition are currently preparing at the Sir Frank Worrell Development Centre in Balmain, Couva. They are under the supervision of Advanced Level Coach  David Moffett, an Engineering Assistant with the Unemployed Relief Programme.

Moffett said that the training programme would focus on improving the players’ basic skills in  the game — batting, bowling and fielding as well as developing qualities of good sportsmanship, running between wickets, helping to read the opponents’ game, and playing the game to win. Forbes Persad, newly elected secretary of the TT Cricket Board said that the goodwill series was started some time ago and described it as “an ideal stage to begin to groom players for the future.” The team for Barbados would be announced next week.
