Cricket trial at St Augustine

AS PART of their preparation for the forthcoming 2005-2006 Carib Beer Cricket Series, the Trinidad and Tobago cricket team will face their reserve counterparts in a three-day trial match at the Sir Frank Worrell Grounds, University of the West Indies (UWI) St Augustine campus.

The match will start today and run until Sunday, with the first ball expected to be delivered at 10 am each day.

However Sherwin Ganga, who was originally named in the TT team for the December 2-5 opener against the Leeward Islands in Anguilla, will be among the reserves for today’s match while Reshard Harris, who was among the five stand-by players for the Leewards match, will play with the seniors for this weekend’s fixture. Spinners Rodney Sooklal (off) and Rishi Bachan (left-arm), who were part of TT’s disastrous campaign in the Red Stripe Series last month, will be among the TT reserves while Atiba Alert, Theodore Modeste, Sanjeev Gooljar and Jason Mohammed, the other stand-by players, will be featuring in the game.

Mohammed, the TT Under-19 captain, will be the skipper for the TT reserves while former national middle order batsman Denzil James will also be among the line up with the reserves.
