San Juan woman snatched By NALINEE SEELAL A 45-year-old proprietress was snatched outside her businessplace at Irving Street, San Juan, at about 8 pm on Saturday. Samdaye Rampersad, who operates a mini grocery was standing outside her business place speaking with friends when three men armed with guns alighted from a B-15 car and snatched the businesswoman. Rampersad was forced screaming and kicking into the waiting car. Her kidnapping caused panic in the normally serene Irving Street. Her brother Mervyn, who operates a muffler repair service yesterday pleaded with kidnappers to allow his ailing sister to return home safely. He said that Samdaye is a diabetic and suffers from asthma. The worried businessman said that if Samdaye is not given her medication she may become critically ill. She could also suffocate if she does not have her nebuliser with her. Rampersad said that he is fearful for the health of his sister and feels that she does not deserve to suffer. He again pleaded with the kidnappers to be humane and not cause any harm to his sister. Also neighbours of the kidnapped woman also made a plea for the safe return of Samdaye. They described her as a kind person with a big heart who is always willing to assist anyone in need. Officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad said yesterday that they are following certain leads in the kidnapping. Up until yesterday, 54 persons were kidnapped for ransom.
