Truck driver attacked

A garbage truck driver’s hand was almost severed when he was attacked in the Beetham Estate by a cyclist yesterday.

The driver was reversing the truck into Ninth Avenue to pick up trash, when he told a cyclist to remove his bicycle from the middle of the road.

The cyclist then threw bottles at the driver through the window of the truck, cutting the driver’s left wrist and face.

He was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital by a passing motorist, where he received 14 stitches to his wrist.

No suspects have been held.

The Besson Street police are continuing investigations.
