Suspect gives himself up in Cocoyea killing

THE teenager wanted in connection with Friday night’s murder of Romin Jarvis, 29, who was stabbed to death when he attempted to break up a card game in front of his home in Cocoyea Village, surrendered to the police yesterday.

Police sources said that the 19-year-old suspect walked into the San Fernando CID at 9 am accompanied by a relative. The stabbing incident occurred at 9.15 pm at Grange Road, Cocoyea Village, San Fernando, while a group of men were playing cards in front of Jarvis’ front gate.

The gate leads to Jarvis’ garage and, according to the report, he asked the men to take their card game elsewhere so he could drive into the garage.

An argument ensued between Jarvis and the men, the police report stated, during which Jarvis emerged from his vehicle. A scuffle ensued and Jarvis was stabbed in the neck and chest.

Jarvis collapsed and died in the kitchen of his home.

Jarvis, a father of one, was pronounced dead on arrival at the San Fernando General Hospital. The teen suspect was detained at the San Fernando CID all day yesterday. San Fernando homicide detectives are continuing investigations.
