Cops in brawl over gun


TWO policemen, a police constable and an acting corporal attached to the Port-of-Spain Special Unit at Besson Street Police Station, are now being investigated after they were allegedly involved in a fight over a gun.


According to reports, after patrol duties, the constable attempted to hand over his firearm to the sentry on duty at 8 pm, when he was stopped by the corporal who demanded it be handed to him. The constable refused and a struggle ensued, resulting in damage to the constable’s fingers. He sought medical attention at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was treated and discharged. A report was filed by both officers after the incident.


In an unrelated matter, St James resident Cris Ramsawak is facing possible charges after his firearm was stolen from his vehicle. According to reports, Ramsawak parked his vehicle on Grey Street, St Clair, at 4 pm and returned at 5.30 pm to find his 9mm firearm and 15 rounds of ammunition missing.


When he reported the theft at St Clair Police Station, he was told he would be charged for not properly securing his firearm as stated on Firearm Users Licence.
