Connection, Stars earn big victories

W CONNECTION and North East Stars earned huge victories over Caledonia AIA/Fire and Defence Force respectively as the third round of the T&T Pro League’s Lucozade Sport “Big Six” competition continued on Saturday. In the first match of a double-header at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima, Connection cruised past Caledonia AIA/Fire 5-0 while Stars thrashed Defence Force 4-1 in the second fixture. Connection got a pair from Nigerian striker Iyaka Stanley (57th and 68th minutes), while captain Earl Jean (39th), Nicholson Thomas (59th) and Andre Toussaint (89th) added one each.


Former national striker Gary Glasgow notched a double for North East, in the ninth and 66th minutes, while Kendall Velox (11th) and Keryn Navarro (87th) chipped in with a goal apiece as the Sangre Grande-based team remains the only team in the “Big Six” with a 100-percent record. Kevon Carter got the consolation strike for the Army-Coast Guard combination in the 64th. Kerry Baptiste scored an 83rd minute equaliser as CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh battled to a 1-1 draw against United Petrotrin at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella. Marlon Lewis got Petrotrin’s item after 20 minutes of play.
