TT take first innings points
THE VALLEY: Trinidad and Tobago took first innings points from Leeward Islands behind half centuries from skipper Daren Ganga and young allrounder Richard Kelly. When third day’s play in the rain-affected 2005-06 Carib Beer Series match ended at Ronald Webster Park here yesterday, the Trinidadians reached 240 for seven wickets replying to Leeward Islands first innings 171. Ganga hit a battling topscore 63, while Kelly belted his way to a rousing 62. At the tea break yesterday, Trinidad and Tobago were on 131 for five wickets, still trailing by 40 runs. But Kelly lit up the gloomy evening with some powerful hitting to take his team past the required score and first innings points.
Best bowler for the Islanders was Omari Banks who took three wickets for 76 runs, while Wilden Cornwall got two for 41. AT ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica, the home team who led Windward Islands by 60 runs on first innings, were 110 for three in their second knock at the close of olay at the Alpart Sports Club Ground yesterday. The Jamaicans will take a 170-run lead into today’s final day after Brenton Parchment scored 36, while Mark Findlay was unbeaten on 31. To date, Rawl Lewis has taken two wickets for 26 runs.
