No goal for Yorke but Sydney win
SYDNEY: Trinidad and Tobago captain Dwight Yorke failed to get on the score sheet but Sydney FC still earned a 2-1 victory over Melbourne Victory at the Aussie Stadium on Saturday. For the exception of a chance early in the first half, the World Cup-bound Yorke did not feature prominently in Sydney’s win, which kept them five points off leaders Adelaide. Sydney got goals from Steve Corica and David Carney on either side of half time while Melbourne’s reply came two minutes from full time through Daniel Allsopp’s strike. After dominating possession, Corica opened Sydney’s account in the 24th minute after being released by Sasho Petrovski. Sydney had to wait until the 80th minute to get their second when Petrovski and Japanese striker Kazuyosji Miura combined to set up Carney who buried the chance.
