TTpost joins battle against smoking

TTpost has issued a special stamp designed to spread the message that smoking is dangerous to health.

Using the theme "Children Against Cancer — Smoking Isn’t Cool," TTpost has placed the special issue at $20 each, and $5 from each souvenir sheet will be donated to the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society. The stamp was produced in collaboration with the Cancer Society, and was launched yesterday at a function at the Marriott Hotel, Invaders Bay.

A replica of the stamp was unveiled jointly by the Minister of Public Utilities and the Environment, Pennelope Beckles, and TTpost chairman Anthony Hall.

TTpost hailed the efforts of the Cancer Society for its battle against numerous forms of cancer over the past 36 years.

TTpost stated that it is committed to health and humanity and "urges you not to smoke, or quit if you are currently a smoker."

In the welcome remarks at the launch of the stamp, Hall said the special issue focuses on children and topics specifically geared towards their interest.

He said the stamp has added significance — "not only the message it sends to our youth, but also the fact that letter-writing seems to be a dying art in a fast-paced age of technology. "Stamps can therefore be used to encourage such activity in the schools and even at home.
