Teen back home after ‘kidnapping’

POLICE are keeping an open mind in the investigation into the recent reported kidnapping and release of 14-year-old schoolboy Lyndon Gooding.

"From the looks of things it appears the boy went somewhere to lime and created this kidnapping story to hide his wrong," a senior police officer told Newsday.

Gooding, a Form Three student of Trinity College, Trincity, was "released" at about 5.30 am yesterday at Pinto Road, Arima. He went to a house in the area where he contacted the Pinto Road police who took him to the Arima Health Facility where he was checked, and handed over to his family at their Santa Rosa Heights home.

Gooding left his home in Santa Rosa at 6.30 am on Monday to attend classes at Trinity College, Trincity. At about 1.50 pm, his mother, Leela Charles, received a call from his alleged abductors demanding $100,000 for his release by Friday, or he would be beheaded.

The Anti-Kidnapping Squad and Pinto police are investigating.
