Lucozade ‘Big Six’ decider today
NORTH EAST Stars and United Petrotrin will be seeking their first major title in the 2005 local football season when the T&T Pro League’s Lucozade Sport-sponsored "Big Six" contest ends today. North East hold a slim one-point lead over Petrotrin, with both facing off at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima from 6 pm. The Sangre Grande-based team have looked a shadow of their 2004 invincible self. But, during the Big Six, North East have recorded three victories in four matches and they will like to end the competition on a high note. But Petrotrin have developed from an inconsistent bunch to a combative unit, especially since the late-season inclusion of veterans Anthony Rougier and Peter Prosper. W Connection have an outside chance of adding the Big Six trophy to their Pro League and Toyota Classic crowns. To do so, they must defeat CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva and expect a drawn result between North East and Petrotrin. The fixture at Couva will kick off at 6 pm but, at 4 pm, Caledonia AIA/Fire will meet Defence Force at the Arima venue.
