Bharath gets Clarke Road award
TALENTED Clarke Road United batsman Adrian Bharath was named "Youth Cricketer of the Year" at the club’s annual dinner and awards ceremony Saturday night at Clarke Road in Penal. Bharath, whose splendid batting led Trinidad and Tobago to the West Indies Under-15 title, was named the "Most Valuable Player" (MVP) in CLICO West Indies Under-15 cricket tournament earlier this year. He gathered 429 runs from five championship matches at a remarkable average of 143. He struck two centuries — 134 not out against Barbados and 111 not out against Jamaica. Bharath’s effort helped Trinidad and Tobago to their fourth regional Under-15 title — the first three being in 2000, 2001, and 2002 — with five wins from five matches. The 16-year-old student of Presentation College, Chaguanas, also assisted TT to the unique double in the 2005 TCL Group West Indies Under-19 Cricket Challenge in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Promising all-rounder Sean Siloch copped the coveted "Senior Cricketer of the Year" award. Siloch scored over 600 runs this season and picked up 25 wickets. Also honoured at the gala function were national players Dane Teelucksingh, Javed Mohammed, Tishan Maraj and Gregory Mahabir. Former Trinidad and Tobago youth captain Mahadeo Bodoe was voted "Club Member of the Year."
