Mystery of missing Nigels
Nigel Allen, 32, left his home in Cocoyea Village on Wednesday night to meet his good friend Nigel "Cat" Roderique at the latter’s home in Diamond Village, Claxton Bay. Both were driving their cars. The mystery for their families however is that neither Nigel has been seen nor heard of since then. Only one car, the one driven by Nigel Allen, has been found abandoned in Claxton Bay near the Forres Park dump. Nigel Roderique’s common-law wife Denise Phillip reported him missing at the Couva Police Station. Relatives of both Nigels said yesterday the men were "good friends," and their disappearance is a mystery to both families. Nigel Allen’s brother maintained yesterday that Nigel left home Wednesday night to meet a man known as "Cat" at Diamond Village. Phillip told Newsday that her husband left home on Thursday morning to meet Nigel Allen, but Roderique, her husband, left home with $13,000 in cash, the woman said. Phillip told Newsday yesterday that Roderique left home in a white Nissan B-15 Sentra, but no information about his car, or his whereabouts, has surfaced. Both relatives made a public plea for information about the men when they gathered at the Mon Repos roundabout yesterday. After filing a missing person’s report at the Couva Police Station yesterday morning, it was a tearful Phillip who visited Newsday’s South office. She said her husband did not tell her what he was going to do with all that money when he left home. On Sunday, Nigel Allen’s relatives also made a public plea for information concerning the disappearance of the two men. Both families are deeply concerned about the disappearance of the men, and have no idea what could have happened to them, particularly as one of the cars was found abandoned. Cpl James of the Couva CID is investigating.
