Boynes sure of good W/Cup showing
SPORTS MINISTER Roger Boynes has expressed confidence that the national team will be impressive in Group "B" of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. The TT squad will face England, Paraguay and Sweden in the round-robin first round phase. Boynes said "we find ourselves in a tough group with three teams who will all be hard to beat. "Nonetheless, we were fortunate to be grouped with England, where many of our senior, experienced players make a living," Boynes continued. "That may be an advantage for us." And the minister, in a confident prediction, stated, "I sincerely believe, however, that we will stun the world." Concerning the TT’s team plans ahead of the tournament, Boynes noted: "Now that we are clear about where we will play and who Trinidad and Tobago will face in the World Cup 2006, we are in a better position to discuss the way forward." The minister disclosed: "We will sit down with officials of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation and the Local Organising Committee to ensure that all the necessary arrangements are in place for the team and that they are well-prepared for the challenge ahead."
