Driver chopped to death in PoS

An employee of Next Technology Ltd was brutally chopped to death while attempting to fight off three bandits at his workplace at the corner of Gordon and Edward Streets in Port-of-Spain yesterday.

The victim was identified as Mark Williams, 24, of Trincity. His murder pushed the year’s toll to 365.

Police reports revealed that Williams, a driver and general worker, was on duty at the computer store with other workers at 11.30 am, when three men armed with cutlasses entered and announced a hold-up.

Williams reportedly tried to challenge the robbers, but was hacked to death.

The three killers fled the scene and officers of the E-999 were alerted. They found the body of Williams in a pool of blood at the scene.

A party of homicide officers as well as officers from the Crime Scenes Unit went to the scene.

Shocked colleagues of Williams were interviewed by officers and then allowed to leave.
