Boynes calls for football budget

MINISTER of Sport and Youth Affairs Roger Boynes has called on the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) to submit a budget urgently, with regards to the plans of the national team for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

In a letter to TTFF president Oliver Camps on Monday, Boynes reiterated that the long-standing football administrator "would be in a position to indicate the financial requirements in support of the Trinidad and Tobago football team’s campaign towards World Cup Germany 2006 after the final’s draw for positions in the World Cup."

Boynes, who have come under fire for his Government’s reluctance to assist the team, continued, "I invite you to submit, in detail, the expenditure to be incurred in respect of the team’s preparation and technical staff requirements, taking into account projected revenue."

The minister stressed that such a move is an attempt by Government "to ensure that it fully supports our national team in a timely manner to do Trinidad and Tobago proud at World Cup 2006."
