Small fire at Gulf City

AN electronic neon sign valued $20,000 belonging to the Catwalk clothing outlet at Gulf City Mall caught fire early Wednesday morning. However, mall security guards were able to quickly extinguish the blaze before any damage was done to the store or the mall. According to a fire report, a mall guard noticed the neon logo “Drydock” sign sparking at 5 am yesterday, and within a few seconds, the sign was ablaze.

The two security guards quickly extinguished the flames with a fire extinguisher. Preliminary investigations into the cause of the fire, according to a fire official at the Mon Repos Fire Station, stated that an electrical short caused the fire. Efforts to reach Catwalk officials yesterday for a comment proved futile. Investigations are continuing.
