JENNY GETS HER NEW YEAR’S WISH
WELL-KNOWN businesswoman Jenny Sharma got her New Years’ wish early yesterday morning when her husband Basdeo Sharma who was abducted nine days ago walked into to their Flagstaff Hill, Long Circular townhouse, unharmed. According to reports, around 2 am Basdeo walked back into the family home and was greeted by friends and relatives who had been praying and pleading for his return. On Thursday last, friends and co-workers held a prayer vigil outside the Sharma’s Jenny on the Boulevard restaurant in Newtown pleading with the kidnappers to release him for the new year. Jenny and other members of the family had made several pleas before for his release.
Basdeo was kidnapped outside the family business place on December 22. A $2 million ransom was demanded. When Sunday Newsday visited the family’s Flgastaff Hill, Long Circular home no one was available for comment. Also at the couple’s other home at Santa Margarita, there was no response to visitors. Neighbours could shed no light on the situation while police remained tight lipped. Sources however confirmed that an undisclosed amount of money was paid and Basdeo was released around 1.20 am at the Grand Bazaar Mall, Uriah Butler and Solomon Hochoy intersection from where he made his way to the family home.
