Ganga (D) hits 104 in warm-up game
TRINIDAD AND Tobago captain Daren Ganga cracked a century as the four-day, warm-up match in preparation for the restart of the Carib Beer Series, ended in a draw at the UWI grounds in St Augustine on Saturday. The elegant right-handed batsman lashed 104 as his team, with a deficit of 106 on first innings, posted a modest 223 off 82.2 overs, leaving Dwayne Bravo’s XI with 118 to get for victory in 30 overs. They came up just short in the run-chase, reaching 116 for four in 22 overs, when the time ran out. Ganga, resuming on his overnight score of 45 with his side at 133 for seven, hit eight fours and two sixes in an innings that spanned 275 minutes and 187 balls.
Fast bowler Richard Kelly did not add to his four-wicket tally from the previous day, finishing with four for 34 while leg-spinner Imran Khan picked up three for 19. Chasing the target of 118, first innings century-maker Jason Mohammed led Bravo XI’s charge with a knock of 25, while Kelly made 20. Trinidad and Tobago will take on Jamaica in a third round Carib Beer Series fixture starting on Friday at Wilson Road Recrea-tion Ground in Penal.
