A MALE suspect in the murder last Thursday of Morvant security guard Esan Faria remains in police custody after he was held during a raid on Saturday morning in South Trinidad. The Southern Division Homicide Bureau reportedly received a tip-off and at about 2.15 am a team of officers including Cpl Harriman, Cpl Griffith, Cpl Parryman and others first surrounded then stormed a house in Blitz Village, Pleasantville and arrested the 29-year-old Morvant suspect. Following the arrest, officers from Police Northern Division Homicide Bureau held a meeting with Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Geoffrey Henderson who gave instructions to charge the man who is an ex-convict, for Faria’s murder.

The man was also charged with several unrelated crimes for which he was wanted, including attempted murder, rape and several counts of possession of arms and ammunition. These charges were laid after he went on numerous ID Parades over the long weekend. Faria was shot dead last Thursday at an apartment in Poinsettia Drive, Morvant. When the police arrived on the scene, they were reportedly met with a hail of gunfire from several men who fled the scene. Murder investigations were spearheaded by Inspector Johnny Abraham and Sgt Stanley Ramdeen of the Homicide Division. Sgt Ramdeen laid the murder charge while several other officers including Cpl Edgar Vidale of Morvant CID, laid other charges against the suspect, who is expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate to answer these charges today.
