Good 2006 start for TT security
FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS are continuing to maintain a positive outlook on Trinidad and Tobago’s international security status in 2006. In its first security intelligence report for 2006, the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has maintained its advice to British citizens coming to TT that most visits to this country are "trouble-free" but they advise that the necessary precautions are taken where crime is concerned and warn of the global risk of indiscriminate terrorist attacks. The US State Department has maintained its position from 2005 to American nationals coming to TT about exercising caution and good judgment where crime is concerned. The Canadian Foreign Affairs Ministry also continues to share the view of its American and British counterparts about the levels of safety and security in TT in 2006. None of these governments have issued travel advisories against TT despite unprecedented levels of crime in 2005, and have not done so at the start of 2006. The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) continues to maintain its position that this country remains an "excellent investment site" in the Caribbean and Government is coping with the crime situation.
