Rugby mourn TTT cameraman
THE TRINIDAD and Tobago Rugby Football Union has sent out condolences to the family and friends of the late TTT cameraman Peter Singh. Singh died of complications of diabetes and cancer on New Year’s Day at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital at about 1.30 pm. He had been warded at the hospital only months after being one of some 180 workers at the defunct National Broadcasting Network (NBN) to receive the Voluntary Separation of Employment Package (VSEP) offer. Brian Lewis, Honorary Secretary at the Rugby Football Union said in a release that Singh was "a genuine human being who was always willing to go the extra mile for the different sporting organisations, regardless of the perceived status in the pecking order of the local sporting landscape." He added that rugby has benefited on many occasions from the commitment that Singh had in his job as a cameraman. He pointed out that Singh would perform his duties, in the rain or sun, with no fuss or complaint, doing what he loved. "No matter what the circumstances were, Singh would smile and say no problem, see what you could do next time," Lewis said. According to Lewis, Singh faced his challenges with courage, dignity and humility and from this his life was an example to many others. In addition to his excellent work with the camera, Singh was also an extremely competent editor in both sports and news at TTT. Many a times he was called upon to assist in the editing of sports and news stories whenever there was a shortage of editors. He will be greatly missed.
