Both Third Time Lucky and All Royalty showed some spunk on the sloppy track rated as fast, galloping together from the boxes over 400 metres which they were clocked in 25.15 seconds.

Jamaican-bred Blanca who was withdrawn when set to make his debut on New Year’s Day holiday on Monday last, had a pleasing run over the same distance in a handy 27.97 seconds.

Besides those, pace work was the order of the morning with trainers taking things light with their charges.

There will be no racing this weekend so the trainers are giving their horses a "breather," until the second race day of the new Arima Race Club season on January 14.

According to the ARC there will be 37 race days during the season which began on Monday last.

But only August will have four days racing, while the other 11 months will have three days each.

Feature race on Day Two will be a Starter Allowance for West Indies-bred three -year-olds and over and imported three-year-olds over 1200 metres with a total purse of $23,000.

And on the third racing day this month, the feature will be a 1750 metres Allowance race for West Indies-bred there-year-olds and over winners and imported three-year-olds and over. The purse is $26,000.

There will be 24 Saturdays without any racing, but there will be racing as usual on public holidays — Easter Monday (April 17), Indian Arrival Day (May 30), Labour Day (June 19), Emancipation Day (August 1), Independence Day (August 31), Republic Day (September 24)and Boxing Day (December 26).
