Siparia teen held with arms and drugs
AN 18-YEAR-old from Siparia caught with a loaded revolver and illegal drugs was among 51 persons arrested during a police exercise in the south-western division on Friday night. The teenager, of Coora Branch Trace, was being questioned yesterday in connection with a robbery committed on Thursday night in Siparia. Police said the young man was held with a 0.38 revolver and six rounds of ammunition, as well as a quantity of marijuana. The exercise, which was spearheaded by Supt Samuel Jemmot and Snr Supt Gopiechan Ganga, and included Insp Michael Wells, saw persons arrested for various offences including outstanding warrants, possession of marijuana, cocaine, firearms and ammunition and robbery. The suspects are expected to appear before a Siparia Magistrate tomorrow. Meanwhile, Siparia police are searching for two men in connection with the robbery of a Siparia man. Kawok Ming Chow, 35, told police he was walking along Station Street, Siparia, in the vicinity of the police station at about 10 pm when he was attacked. Ming Chow said he was attacked from behind by two men who beat him up and stole his wallet valued $40 which contained $300. They escaped on foot. PC Khan is investigating.
