Coast Guard east ‘Team of the Year’

COAST GUARD, in only their second season in the Emerald Apartments and Plaza-sponsored Eastern Football Association, were voted “Team of the Year” for the just concluded season. The Coast Guardmen won the Lucky Bakery Ltd FA Trophy and $4,000 prize along with 23 gold medals, and they were third to league winners House of Dread. And House of Dread striker Kevin Baptiste was named “Player of the Year,” and also got the Golden Boots award. Female referee Marlene Butler was voted “Referee of the Year and got the Jack Austin Warner prize. House of Dread captured the Arthur “Jap” Brown Memorial Trophy winning the league title and got $10,000 and 23 gold medals to go with it.


Runners-up WASA Clean & White got $5,000 and third Coast Guard $3,000, while the fourth placed team Carib FC collected $2,000. The “Brewery Boys” won the Emerald Apartments and Plaza Cup and $3,000 with runners-up Combine FC getting $2,000. FA Trophy runners-up Falcon Crest got a prize of $2,000, and Joe Public got $3,000 for winning the Emerald Apartments and Plaza League Cup with runners-up East/West Coaching School receiving $2,000.


Creek of Arima was named “Youth Team of the Year” while star player Shane Hospedales was voted “Youth Player of the Year,” but Joe Public youngster Davian John was named “Most Improved Youth Player.” Creek took the Under-17 Division title with Joe Public runners-up, while 1st  FC Santa Rosa won the Under-15 Division with Creek runners-up. The Under-13 crown was won by Arima Ball Masters with Joe Public the runners-up. Stefan Lewis was voted “Most Talented” (male) with the female title going to Sarita Katwaroo. Brent Edwards was named “Most Improved” (male) and Kelly Jules got the award among female footballers. Jovan Parris was named Most Consistent and Tamieka Almorales got the award for Best Disciplined.   Cherisse Andrews was named Most Willing Player.
